THE PLATONIC SOLIDS SERIES

The Platonic solids are archetypes of order and perfection, reputed to be the most beautiful shapes possible. They are defined by their extraordinary harmony: three-dimensional shapes that are not only perfectly symmetrical themselves but built from equally symmetrical two-dimensional shapes.

Only five exist.

The Tetrahedron. Four equilateral triangles forming a three-sided pyramid. Sharp and light. Plato associated it with fire.

The Cube. Six perfect squares forming a cube. Solid and steady. Plato associated it with earth.

The Octahedron. Eight equilateral triangles, with each point mirroring its opposite. Balanced and light. Plato associated it with air.

The Icosahedron. Twenty equilateral triangles, giving a smooth, rounded look. Fluid and graceful. Plato associated it with water.

The Dodecahedron. Twelve five-sided pentagons, fitted into a complex whole. Elegant and complete. Plato associated this with the heavens and the universe itself.

For millennia, the beauty and harmony of these solids has fascinated philosophers, mathematicians, and mystics. Plato used them to explain the composition of the cosmos...

The five Platonic solids are a rare meeting point of geometry, metaphysics, mysticism, and aesthetics...
