GÖBEKLİTEPE

Göbeklitepe, located six miles from Urfa in southeastern Turkey, is a 11,000-year-old archaeological site—6,000 years older than Stonehenge—and the oldest known worship center of its scale. It challenges our understanding of the Neolithic era, revealing that early humans, once thought to be simple hunter-gatherers, practiced advanced architecture and cultivated wheat. The site features symbolic carvings of animals like scorpions, foxes, bulls, and snakes, offering a glimpse into the complex worldview of a lost prehistoric culture.
