The Hittite Sun Pendant

The Sun Disk is known as a symbol of the Hittite civilization and is a circular object representing the sun. The figures of birds, deer, and trees placed around it symbolize peace, fertility, and the continuity of life. Initially believed to have been used to determine the positions of stars, it is thought to have later transformed into a ceremonial object.
