THE MOON GODDESS
The moon, with its monthly waxing and waning, was a goddess of the rhythm of time, and the cycle of death and rebirth. She rules life at night and was seen sometimes as a compliment to the daytime and the (male) sun, and sometimes as its competitor, as during eclipses.
